For the huts use the Swiss Alpine Club's hut finder. For hotels the Valais Hotel Association has both a list (many, many pages!) and a much more convenient search page. You can either order or download the hotels list from the Valais Tourist Office's brochures page. In addition I give links to tourism office web sites, they cover a variety of types of accommodation. Neither source is exhaustive, and you may well wish to consult the all-knowing Google!
- The Local Committee
of Mountain Hiking in the Haute-Savoie has a few general pages in
English,and an excellent page (in French only) on the Gîtes et Refuges Sur le
Tour du Mont Blanc. It appears to be updated annually. The Tour
du Mont Blanc overlaps the Haute Route, so this page is useful for the
westerly part of the latter.
I was fascinated by the Origine et histoire du Tour du Mont Blanc (Origins and history of the Tour du Mont Blanc), unfortunately only in French.
- The Chamonix
Tourist Office covers the whole valley.
- The Commune de Trient has a
lodging page (Hébergements),
which includes the Col de la Forclaz.
- The Valleys of the
St-Bernard site has a lodging
section, with separate pages for each of Liddes, Bourg-St-Pierre,
St-Bernard, Orsières, La Fouly - Val Ferret and Champex.
- The official Verbier/Val de
Bagnes site obviously focuses mainly on Verbier, the main resort
in the area, but has some information on the rest of the valley. In
the upper Val de Bagnes lodging is limited: the Hotel la Vallée in Lourtier, the Hôtel du Grand Combin in Fionnay and
the Hôtel de Mauvoisin
at the bottom of the Mauvoisin dam.
- The Evolène
Region site has information on Arolla, Les Haudères, Evolène
itself and La Sage.
- For the Val d'Anniviers you can either use the Sierre
Anniviers gateway or go directly to the sites of the major
villages: Grimenz,
St-Luc
or Zinal.
You may have difficulty getting to the English version of the
individual village pages directly; in that case start at the
gateway.
High above the Val d'Anniviers is the Hotel Weisshorn (French and German only). Includes a page for online reservations. - For Gruben the Hotel
Schwarzhorn site is in German only.
- The Grächen - St
Niklaus Tourist Office is available in English.
- Should you desire to break your trip up the valley to Zermatt
check the Randa home
page.
- Both the Europahütte and
Europaweg sites are in German
only. The Europaweg site has both a panoramic and a schematic map of the
route.
- The Zermatt Tourist Office has a site with lots of information, both for lodging and for activities.
